Chief Executive Officer

CASTRO COUNTY HOSPITAL DISTRICT

  • Served as the CEO of a Critical Access Hospital providing ancillary and emergency services along with a Rural Health Clinic for the county. Management of an acute care hospital, rural health clinic with six primary care providers, and services which included an emergency department, physical, speech and occupational therapy, and EMS services along with lab, radiology and nuclear services.
  • Oversight of twenty-two Department Directors Reported to the District Board of Directors.
  • Accomplishments:.
  • Assumed debt of $1.8 million to keep the facility opened and paid debt off in 3 years in 2002.
  • Converted the facility to a Critical Access Hospital in 2004.
  • Implemented an in-patient electronic medical record system in 2006.
  • Assumed role of Project Manager for construction of a Rural Health Clinic and remodeling of existing hospital facility totaling $3.5M.
  • This was completed on time and within budget.
  • Expanded rehabilitation services and added an aquatic therapy pool in 2007.
  • Recruited family practice physicians to the Rural Health Clinic as needed.
  • Consistently successful Texas Department of Health CMS surveys with only minor deficiencies.
  • Plains Medical Foundation made functional and productive in providing over $1M to hospital capital equipment request.
  • Accomplished Meaningful Use Certification of EMR.
  • Implemented a $3 million EMR in11/16 with no decrease in cash or services.
  • Project Manager for the construction of a $10M, 60 bed Senior Living Facility completed March, 2019.
  • Oversight of 200 plus employees in 2020.
