Coming from being a general foreman at my previous employer ( Dooley electric) my new position at Allran Electric was to be a sub foreman at a high end office space for a client named Global Relay At 1155 6th Ave in Manhattan. This project involved a theater fit for 195 people, a commercial kitchen and office space. From that project I went on to 375 park Ave to be a foreman on a project for Blue Owl Capital, Which is a multi billion dollar asset management firm. I was responsible for two out of five floors being renovated, and was successful in bringing that job in on time and under budget. The floors I completed included a commercial kitchen, two Large outdoor terraces, multiple conference rooms with high end finishes throughout, 60+ offices, as well as multiple pantries and bathrooms . Following the completion of the Blue Owl Project, I remained In The building as a general foreman and began the refit construction of two more floors for a new client , Advent International. This project , completed on time and also under budget, contained extremely high end finishes throughout. My final project with my current employer was for Bain Capital , A global private investment firm with $185 billion in assets, as a sub Foreman with the responsibility of two floors . That project is currently still underway, Although I still provide support to my team that took over after I left.

As a journeyman , it is your role to take the knowledge learned from your apprenticeship and apply it with the contractors best interest in mind. It is up to you to assess the task at hand, make material lists, devise a plan , and execute that plan. It also involves your ability to work well this others, communicate respectfully, and provide a safe work environment for yourself and those on your team. My personal experience was that I became a lead journeyman with the intention of becoming foreman after I felt I had enough experience and knowledge working within the campus of New York Presbyterian Hosepital/ Cornell university. When that time came , I was responsible to delegate work to the workforce, order all materials, schedule deliveries, build relationships with the vendors as well as the NYPH/Cornell staff. Some of my other roles were to maintain payroll , write up work orders, and maintain project schedules . Multitasking was a key skill to maintaining a productive site, with as many as 7 different projects within the campus going simultaneously, it was my role to shift manpower from site to site to maintain forward progression of each job with any one of them suffering or falling behind. After about 10 years of working within hospitals and learning all of the systems ( lighting, power , data, fire alarm, nurse call, etc) I decided to move on to new things. It landed me as the general foreman at CookFox architecture firm office fit out at 250w 57th street in Manhattan. This project involved common office space for 150+ architects , A dinning area with kitchenette, Conference rooms, Lobby, and also included a Lutron Lighting package with integrated shades, as well as 3 outdoor terraces overlooking Central Park. From there, I went on to be the general foreman at the NFL experience in Time Square New York , an innovative 6 floor project which included a two story 200 seat 4D theater, incorporating snow machines , wind machines, and robotic seating . There was also a gift shop floor, and multiple interactive experiences throughout the remaining floors. After completion of that project, I was back in healthcare but for Mt. Sinai at 787 11th Ave. This project was a satellite space that included the multiple out patient exam rooms, installation of MRI machines, mammogram machines, X-ray machines , Waiting rooms, and bathrooms.

As an apprentice , your role is to safely learn how to navigate a construction site , receive deliveries, and learn the tools and materials of the trade. As an apprentice, your play a key role in providing support to your journey persons, while learning from them simultaneously.

As a maintenance electrician within the UBS building at 1285 6th Ave in Manhattan , I was responsible to maintain lighting for 3 clients , across 14 floors . This involved replacing burnt lamps, replacing bad ballasts , and also occasionally involved some circuit troubleshooting .
